A donation from you (with Refilwe.org - Dare to Give Differently)

I was introduced to this charity via a friend of mine - and it resonated immediately. It's actually harder than you might think to give to charity. Who do you give to? How? Is it worth the tax rebate (joking)? Most importantly: is the money being used to really help?

Refilwe, has introduced packaged donations with a really tangible benefit... Give growth, facilitate learning, fight desperation, promote the environment, share love and promote the future.

So, in the spirit of giving, I've apportioned off some of the Google Adwords income from this site and picked up a couple of these.

So on behalf of you, dear reader - thank you for the last year. We must all remember, that while we sit behind fancy Mac's and ADSL lines, that there really are people in this country less fortunate than us. And if we can help, we must.

Have a great festive season everyone...

The TWiT Army makes it onto Google Live Search Results...

This almost snuck by me. It's one helluva vote of confidence in Leo Laporte's podcast and video network, TWiT.

Extract from Google's monthly "Google Friends" newsletter:

Real-time search results: Now you can access comprehensive real-time search results from blogs, social networks, news and the web. When relevant real-time information is available, a new universal search feature will appear with a live stream of the freshest web content. Clicking on the "Latest Results" link will take you to a filtered full page of results. You can also filter to see only short-form "Updates" from Twitter, FriendFeed, Indenti.ca, Jaiku and TWiT Army. We also announced new agreements with Facebook and MySpace, and are working to incorporate public content from those services in the feature.
The TWiT Army, as I understand it, is a community that has built itself around the content and personalities that appear with Laporte. For their comments and micro blogging s…

Meet Mike - a cool Share Investing banner

Had to give a quick shout out to the guys from Share Investing. For some reason, this new online campaign just got me. Cheesy smile pops out of the banner...

My Share Investing portfolio would look a lot better at the moment if it wasn't for Murray & Roberts tanking over the last month. Sigh. I guess that's why they call it investment, not trading. I feel a bit like Mike.

Twitter Wine Review - October 2009

Another little social experiment. Jot down every bottle of wine I taste with a short comment and rating. The theory is, search my Twitter archives by wine brand for a quick lookup history of what I like and don't like. Theoretically. Of course, I'm also hoping this becomes a little social trend. Doesn't everybody?

Enjoy!

My Wine Review List:

Moreson Pinotage 2008. Berries. Lots of them, underlying a spicy Italian flavour. I like! 7/10. #wine

Fleur du Cap Sauvignon Blanc 2008. My fruity week night favourite. 7/10. #wine

Backsberg Chardonnay 2007. Most take like cat piss. This one doesn't. Props. 6/10. #wine
